Henley in Progress

Here is the Henley top down in progress. I have left it like this and cast on for my mother's vneck top down. Once as I get that to the underarm, I will start alternating the two. I have some upcoming events where it will be perfect to just sit and knit round and round on it.

I joined two new knit-a-longs on Ravelry. The first is the Heartland Lace Shawl by Evelyn Clark and I have some brown Brown Sheep Naturespun sport to make it. The next is the Ene's Scarf from Scarf Style. I have the called for yarn and it has been waiting in the stash since I first saw it and ordered the yarn.

The lunch scarf is slowly growing. The Clementine Shawlette sees the light of day and gets worked on probably one day a week.

Today I visited a LYS (The Yarn Garden) and picked up some Silky Wool in black to make a MimKnits pattern. This will be started sometime over the summer when I have more time to knit in sunlight. It feels great and I can't wait to use it.

Judy Pascale Garter Shawlette

This is Judy Pascale's Garter Shawlette. A fun, quick knit in some French Hill Farm, French Twist yarn (I completely missed their booth at the festival this year).

I spent this a few hours this morning at MA Sheep and Wool and then stopped at WEBS on the way home. I was home by 2pm or so. The quickest trip to the festival that I have ever made. It was a nice day but a little windy. I spent almost all the cash I brought with me at the festival and used the plastic at WEBS. I visited and left some money at Ball and Skein, Foxfire Fiber, Green Moutain Spinnery and Spunky Eclectic. I'm sure their was at least one other but I can't remember the name. I had a plan for WEBS and mostly stuck to it with a few additions.

I came home to two online orders that I had placed. I had a credit card issue last week so I was glad to see that they made it here. The rest of the weekend is supposed to be nice and I just plan to sit and knit.

A little knitting

This is the start of a Knitting Pure and Simple Henley sweater for my nephew. This one is being made out of some Lion Brand Woolease. A co-worker from about 5 years ago (company has since closed and we both ended up layed off), gave it to me after her MIL bought it online, didn't like the color and didn't want to send it back. She knew I knit so gave it to me. I have been saving it to make something for my nephew. I love these patterns and have made a few of them. My mother announced that she would like another cardigan so I dug out some patterns (and found many more that I now want to knit) and she picked one out. It is the Knitting Pure and Simple V-neck cardigan so I looked through my stash book and showed her one choice. She approved it so that will be in the queue for her November birthday. I also took out the yarn that I want to use to make myself Bianca's Cardigan from Interweave Fall 2005.

My lunch knitting is stil the lace scarf though I also started a Clementine Shawlette (also from Interweave but Spring 2007 issue). I am using some Laines Du Nord Giunco that I had originally bought to make my mother a modular vest. I have 3 different dye lots of it and have split it up to become the shawlette, a baby sweater and then the rest maybe some charity hats or I can donate the leftover yarn to a nursing home in town that has a small room set up like a yarn shop.

With the gas prices, I haven't yet decided if I will go to MA Sheep and Wool this weekend. I have been doing a little online retail therapy and most of it has arrived but I do have a package or two left to come. I really want to go to WEBS though as I found a sweater that I want to make in their catalog and I want to pick up the kit for it. I have the week to decide and can always just stay home and do some online shopping.

Happy Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day to all the mothers out there. My niece called to wish my mother a Happy Mother's Day and then wanted to talk to me. She always remembers my mother and I.

I bought my mother an african violet (she loves them) and a little cactus with a grafted colored cactus on top. I bought two of the cactus, one pink and one orange and let her choose. She chose orange and I am keeping the other one. They are about 4 inches tall and cute so I couldn't resist bringing them home. I also bought a bunch of plants that I plant in various containers. The giraffe planter is from a tag sale years ago and I love it. I have a small collection of giraffe items in the house. I also have three diamond shaped planters with assorted flowers (purple, white, pink, one has yellow) and then one round planter that is all yellow and white flowers. I used to go through a different color phase each year but the picking weren't that great this year while I was shopping and I didn't want to go elsehwere so I just made it work for me.

For knitting, I still have the scarf for my work projects. At home, I am working on a Judy Pascale Simply Garter Shawlette. My nephew's sweater is ready to be started as soon as I finish the shawlette or just need a change. I think I have decided on what to make me. It is the Bianca's Jacket from Interweave Fall 2006. I looked through all the projects on Ravelry for it and I liked them. I have a few choices of yarn and just have to go through the stash and see which one it will be.

Mabel's Scarf

This is Mabel's scarf out of 1 1/4 skeins of Malabrigo Worsted in the Melilla color. A fun knit. Mine came out shorter than expected. The pattern repeat was to be about 4 inches square, mine was about 3 or 3.5. I ended up doing 17 repeats and plan to make a pair of mitts with the remainder of the skein. The yarn was lovely to knit with and the pattern was fun. I will probably make another for a gift next fall.

I spent today in Poughkeepsie, NY at a baby shower where I delivered the red baby sweater. I ended up going to the shower alone (co-workers backed out) though my parents went for the ride with me and ended up eating at the hotel and staying there. They had planned to go to local mall but the Hotel the shower was at was in the middle of town and they might not have been able to find there way back to me again. The mapquest directions got us to town but stunk at getting to the hotel. But, we are back home and I ended up seeing a small live deer on the Taconic on the way home. Made of for the 3 ones I saw that weren't so lucky.

I started an Eye of the Partridge shawl as shower knitting but never took it out of my purse. That's ok because the people I was seated with were very nice and I am very glad I went.
