64 Squares will eventually be an afghan

These are the 64 squares needed to make my nephews afghan. I don't think I will have them put together by his 16th Birthday in mid September. I will have them done by Christmas though, just need to figure out how I am going to put them together. I have to get out some afhgan patterns and how to books to figure out if I want to crochet them together or mattress stitch them together.

Lace Swap Package

I love my Lace Swap package. My week had not started out well with the passing of my Aunt yesterday morning after recently being diagnosed with Cancer. We had plans to visit in two weeks and I am so sorry that we lost her too soon.

But, I am happy to say that I came home from work today to a package from my Lace Swap pal, Kimberly of www.somebunnyslove.com . She has a great post of her seven days of shopping for my gift. It made me tired just reading it.

Yummy, I love it all. Where to start, where to start. I love the yarn, Crystal Palace Merino Lace. The picture just doesn't show the gorgeousness of the colors, lavender, a little blue, just beautiful. (I bought about 10 assorted skeins of this brand of yarn at a LYS going out of business sale but they didn't have any colors as gorgeous as this.). A great Two Old Bags pattern, Beauty and the Bias. I have seen this pattern but never picked it up. I really like it. There are also a set of Lantern Moon needles, size 6, I have never tried these, they feel great. Some lovely stitch markers, I love these, they are small and dainty. There is also a breast cancer shawl pin which I haven't seen but I love the small shawl pins. There is also some yummy food that I have hidden away to eat at a later time (which may be sooner than I think, it looks great). There are some Newmans Own Dark Chocolate bars which came with a little ice thing (what a great idea) and some Briarbrook Farm and Greenhouse Truffle Filled chocolate chip cookies.

Thank you so much Kimberly. You have made my week a little brighter and the timing couldn't have been more perfect. And my cats were drawn to the smell of the cookies, too.

Flip Flop Swap

Here is the Flip Flop swap package I received. Love the card, it is so cute. In the picture are also some flip flops, a water bottle, a cooler, an autographed Knitting Rules book and some really neat yarn. I have been thinking about what I can make with it. It is Atacama 100% Alpaca and I am thinking of some kind of scarf, either a triangular one or a regular long scarf. For now, I just enjoy looking at it and touching it. Thanks Meg, this has been fun.
