Ene's Shawl

Ene's Shawl from Scarf Style is finally done and ready to be worn. The knitting was done a while ago. Then it waited for the perfect time to block it. Now it is done and I talked my mother into modeling it for me. I had one scare as I took it off the blocking wires. There was a loose thread sticking out in the upper right. The kittens must have gotten to it and pulled it. I managed to get the end tied off and fixed but I couldn't find the other end. There has to be one but I can't find it. I tried looking again but still haven't found it. I am a little afraid to actually wear it until I can find it so it is safely tucked away from the kittens.

I am thinking of lace again but have no idea what will be the next lace project. I have holiday gifts to knit and everything else will wait till they are done.

Rhinebeck 2008

We ended up getting there a little before noon. Went in the Main gate for the first time, I usually end up going in the 4H gate. This was the first animal I saw. All my shots other shots of the Kangaroo were of it's butt. There was also a turtle and then there were some Lemurs a little further up. One had a zebra striped tail, I forgot to get a picture when I came through to leave. It was a little chilly and crowded but nice. I managed to get a picture of the 2 sheep by the main gate but that was it. I only saw a few people from a distance, I saw no one to talk to.

I spent less than half my budget. I bought a skein of Decadent Fibers - new to me. It will be the ruffled edging on the Fiddlesticks Shawl I am making. I was on the hunt for the perfect yarn for this so I am very happy to find what I wanted. My other purchases were earrings and stitch markers from the same vendor. We left around 2:30 or so. My only food purchase came from Taste Buds.

I did see some gorgeous sweaters but missed seeing Norma's, Teresa's and Margene's. I saw Risa's from a distance and also caught a glimpse of Anne Hanson (Knitspot).

Next week is Fiber Twist in Greenfield Mass along with a trip to Webs on the way home. I was off Friday and today and have been searching Ravelry for the sweaters I want to make and updating my queue with yarn from the stash for the future projects.

A FO and a WIP

The red scarf in the top photo is my Multidirectional scarf for the Red Scarf Project. The yarn is Brown Sheep Lambs Pride Superwash.
The bottom picture has an explanation. I have a co-worker that I met about 2 years ago or so. She hung around with 2 of my other friends and I when we were at a work retreat. She moved to CT (from NJ) and has since moved to NY state. Her mother in law was a knitter and crocheter who passed away from Pancreatic cancer a year or so ago. My friend had a baby in June and her MIL had been stashing stuff away since they first married. She emailed me with a request to maybe do something with some yarn that they found that she had put away. I had her send it to me. In the box was a started pink sweater of crochet that she had a crocheter friend look at but they couldn't figure the stitch out. I had no idea so I took the half sleeve off that was on it and crocheted a border around the edges and made it into a little vest. Also in the box were about 10 skeins of white acrylic. The blanket is project one out of the yarn. It is a Feather and Fan baby blanket. Fun to knit and I think it will use up 4 or 5 of the skeins. I plan to make a baby hat to go with the vest out of the leftover pink yarn. I also hope to make a baby sweater and hat out of the rest of the white. I know I will have more left and may make her another blanket to put away out of that but that will depend on how much is left.
It has been hard working on it because of the kittens during the week but I manage about 20 rows on it every weekend. Once as I finish my work scarf ( a blue Malabrigo laceweight that I have been working on for over a year) I may start the baby sweater or the pink hat. My plan that I hope for is to get this blanket, vest and a hat in the mail around Thanksgiving. The rest I will work on among other projects.
