Finished just in time...

I finished weaving in the ends right about lunch time on Christmas Eve day. Not sure he will every wear it but it is done. This should do it for sweaters for my nephew. I made my niece and nephew each a sweater (or afghan one each) for a few years ending with the year they graduate high school. My nephew should have received this one last year but he didn't graduate so I didn't rush to do it.

For my mother, I wrapped up just the buttons for her sweater. I am still plugging away on it but have started a cowl for me and plan to start a vest for me with the new year.

I am still going through patterns to use up the baby yarn for my friend but won't start anything else for her till my mother's sweater is done. I am going to use the leftovers from my nephews sweater with the white acrylic to make something. Plus, on New Years Eve or Day, I plan to rip out a shawl (or shawlette) that is on the needles and will use that yarn with the white also.

I hope everyone has a very Happy New Year. I am hoping that the year is better than 2008.

Happy Holidays!

Happy Holidays! I tried to get both kittens to pose with a snowman. Only Juliet would cooperate. Kayla tried to attack the snowman.

I hope to finish my nephews sweater on Wednesday. My mother's I will finish in January. The baby blanket arrived at my friend's house and she is very happy with it. I received a bunch of patterns I ordered from Patternworks and a few will work with the yarn left.

My queue of sweaters is growing but I haven't decided what one to cast on for me. I have to work tomorrow and then I am off till January 5th. I can't wait. We got out at noon on Friday due to the snowstorm which was nice.

I hope everyone has a happy, safe holiday.

Holiday FO's

Top are the Daisy Chapeau hats for my hairdressers two little girls. Bottom is the baby blanket which will be going in the mail tomorrow. I still have about 8 skeins of that acrylic left so I am planning a few sweaters, a vest and hat and I don't know what else. A sweater or two will be with 2 or more of the strands held together to get a warmer sweater. I was thinking maybe another blanket in an easy basketweave but I want to see how many sweaters I can get out if it and I plan to make varying sizes from 2T to 4T. No rush on those, hope to get 2 in the mail by spring and then maybe make a few more between other projects I want to make.
2009 will be the year of making me at least one sweater, hopefully more as the queue is getting longer and I have the yarn sitting out waiting. Not sure which one will be first. I still have to finish the two top down ones for gifts. I am almost done with one sleeve on my nephews but will have to measure him Tuesday night to see how much more to go. The pattern doesn't say how many stitches you should have for the cuffs so I want to look up a few patterns to see what they have for the cuff stitches.

Silk Diamonds Scarf

I took a class yesterday through Yarns Down Under (Deep River, CT) in Essex, CT at the Hayden House at the Griswold Inn. The weather was a little interesting (sleet, some flurries, rain) on the way but was just rain on the way home. I left my house at 10 AM and arrived back home right around 5:30 or 6 PM. I picked my own colors except for the greens, they were in the original colorway. Fun knitting but it will be put away till some gifts are done.

I still have the 2 sweaters to finish though I have told my mother she may get hers unfinished and then I will finish it up in January. I have 2 hats to make for my hair dresser's two little girls but one is half done. Those will be my lunch knitting and should be done in under 2 weeks.

The baby blanket has less than 40 rows to go so that will go in the mail before the new year. I still want to make 2 baby sweaters with some of the rest of the yarn but haven't started them yet and not sure when I will get to them.

My queue has now grown with more sweaters I want to make for me. I will probably start one on January 1st even if I have other unfinished stuff on the needles.
